Jewelry is an art that is with us since immemorial times. And we have found methods that help us work and improve our well-being. And, making a parenthesis in this, I must tell you that new season is here, it is real. How fast time has gone by, doesn’t it?
For me, one of my favorite moments occurs when new seasons begin. So I can see the new accessories, the new colors, new trends and combinations. It seems exciting to know new things that I use daily in a new cycle, especially if it comes to jewelry.
One of the particularities of practicing jewelry is that it is an art that many, many people use or have used as a relaxation technique in stressful situations.
On this occasion, the founder of Zenishop decided to fight stress with goldsmithing and it was there that she found her passion.
But this was not a “love at first sight” as occurs in some cases. Her first encounter with the jewelry did not captivate her completely, although it piqued her interest. After the sudden enrollment from her son in a school in Caracas…
…From the moment I met my school, I learned to love and worship the art of fire, and it was there that I discovered that I cannot imagine, design, draw, create, re-create, test, and why not say so? Discard, because perhaps some pieces of work do not come out as I want. I also feel that the metal or the tool or material that is actually used indicates to me, in my experience, what are the steps to follow. Always making sure the design is perfect, where you feel the love and dedication that is imposed on each design.”
Usually, she has to draw in the metal what is on her mind and proceed to stall the metal that works in sheets or wires according to your need. Then, she anneals the metal (brass, copper or silver) and gives the shape you decide, with the embossing technique (hit the metal until it is shaped correctly), or also mark the foil with various designs (points, lines, short or long, half moons, suns, flowers, hearts, etc), or modeling the metal because with this annealing, the metal can be shaped because it softens their texture by the heat received.
Once you have defined the technique you will use, you proceed to refine the piece until you get a shiny mirror, with the aid of the engine polishing, working to remove scratches and such.
Zenaida takes her time to finish each piece because it admits that many of her jewelry spend in this process( that I mentioned before) two or three months because it is considered extremely demanding with their creations and strives for perfection at all times.
In precious metals oxidation is a factor completely inevitable, so in Zenishop this type of jewelry is bathed in the electrolytic capacitor for 18k gold and thus will remain in time with due care.
The AGATES are her favorite stones for its versatility colors, shapes, tones. She also makes use of Swarovski crystals because the faceted stones seem elegant and beautiful. Among others are the amethyst, the Ruby, Emerald, Diamond, and pearls.
I fell in love with jewelry from the moment I began to study at the school of goldsmith, with my teacher Alexis de La Sierra, who is undoubtedly my pillar, and so is Paloma Picasso, who I admire since I was a little girl.”
