Hello everyone! This week I’ll talk about something fundamental in our lives: color. Yes! The new year warrants new trends, new colors, new accessories, and allows us to reinvent our look over and over again. In the northern hemisphere we are in the middle of spring. A season that I like a lot because all the colors of nature get more intense and the city looks brighter, don’t you think?
And, undoubtedly, color is the key to any look in the fashion trends of all history. Color defines our personality, even our mood day-by-day. Generally, I love using black and dark colors because they seem very elegant to me, but I am also a faithful lover of pastel colors. I think those are the colors that reflect my soul. The blue and soft pink are my favorite, and also the color salmon or rose-gold. All combined with gold jewelry because I love the golden shine.
At the end of last year, Pantone presented its acclaimed Fashion Trend Color Report for 2018, in which they captured beautiful and vivid colors, worthy for the Spring-Summer 2018 season.
If you are a faithful lover of trends like us, you must know that Pantone reveals the colors that will be used and that will mark a different stage in history, since in each season we see the evolution of society, how it wants to express itself and its demands. This Pantone Report is a bible for designers of great fashion and jewelry brands, as well as for the newest.
I would like to emphasize that the colors revealed every season don’t only apply to pieces of clothing. I remind you that this color palette ranges from the jewelry we wear to the shoes.
What I perceive of the color palette of this season that is taking place is a stimulating, joyful, with positive vibration. And this was reflected in the last New York Fashion Week Spring-Summer Season 2018, where designers wanted to express the freedom of thought, something I absolutely loved.
The contrast of colors is fundamental! But in this post I will tell you how to carry each one without forgetting our jewels.
In this post you will find
1. Little Boy Blue PANTONE 16-4132
Marcs Jacobs. New York Fashion Week 2018 Spring-Summer Season.
One of my favorite colors has come out for this season and it is baby blue. What I like the most about this type of tone, is that you can combine it with almost all pastel colors (pink, yellow, violet, coral) and solid colors (vinotinto, dark blue, green, intense violet, black, brown, white). And wearing all your monochromatic outfit is also trend.
Now, with this color you can wear gold-colored metal jewelery with an old look if you want to go for something very casual but at the same time elegant, or you can use minimalist gold or silver jewelry.
2. Meadowlark – PANTONE 13-0646
Oscar de la Renta. New York Fashion Week 2018 Spring-Summer Season.
Yellow to not go unnoticed. Any accessory that you have in this color will make you light up any room you are in. The advantage of yellow is that, although if you add dark colors, it never loses its strength. Unlike it becomes brighter. So if you are wearing a piece of clothing of this color, you can combine a dark bracelet perhaps with gold or yellow details to avoid losing the touch, and vice versa.
Also the use of warm and strong colors, like red, make good combination with yellow. I recommend this explosive combination to people who know how to wear these colors in accessories or clothes, otherwise I suggest you combine a darker color, like a wine color, if you don’t want to attract that much attention.
Blue tassels in the ears with a yellow top and jeans would make the perfect combination, along with simple bracelets of various types of metal, without abusing the use of rings. Remember that yellow is a color that enhances by itself, is like a soloist singer who only needs a couple of guitarists and a drummer, no more.
3. Pink Lavender PANTONE 14-3207
Tom Ford. New York Fashion Week 2018 Spring-Summer Season.
It is impossible that pink lavender look bad on any type of skin. It’s amazing! It is romantic, calm, breathes tranquility and innocence. This tone goes well with many colors like the first one on this list, and maybe I would risk using it with black tones in my accessories, remembering that the punk and grunge era is back.
It has always seemed to me that pink goes better with silver and white or pale colors, so I would combine my look with some pearls of the classic side if I don’t want to opt for the punk style. Also, pink with diamonds goes incredibly well. The subtle touch of both pieces makes a fantastic and innocent combination.
If you are not in the mood for the punk side or the classic side, and rather you want to be casual, then I recommend you to combine accessories with stones of blue, green, wine colors. I must mention that this tone goes very well with natural stones such as white and blue agate, aquamarine stone, green and even black tourmaline.
4. Arcadia PANTONE 16-5533
Derek Lam. New York Fashion Week 2018 Spring-Summer Season.
Let’s talk about this beautiful green color that I love. It has everything: strength, peace and fun. The designers used this tone in totally retro pieces, and you can combine it without fear with white, yellow, wine color, violet, cream, black, gray… And the list can continue. It’s a very versatile tone but it will undoubtedly take all the attention.
Jewels of the aforementioned colors are very good, as well as gold and silver. Crystals and diamonds. Stones of bright colors. You can wear your outfit as casual or as elegant as you want with this color.
5. Blooming Dahlia PANTONE 15-1520
Delpozo. New York Fashion Week 2018 Spring-Summer Season.
Coral color couldn’t miss for this Spring-Summer season. This is a color that you can combine with any other color, except black. Why? The black absorbs all the energy and prominence of the Blooming Dahlia. They are so antagonistic that they can’t go together, in my opinion.
This color fits perfectly eith accessories in golden, white, yellow. Vivid colors. As well as blues and light greens.
The pearls look great with a dress or top of this color.
6. Ultra Violet PANTONE 18-3838
Rodarte. New York Fashion Week 2018 Spring-Summer Season.
Magical and mystic, violet is one of the funniest colors to use. My recommendation is to use it in floral prints with other colors as it is quite striking and intense. Don’t use it on an entire dress unless it is a darker shade. And as for jewels, gold go very well to give a little bit of balance to the look.
With a bit of this color in your look you can give yourself the pleasure of wearing extravagant and antique earrings or necklaces. For me it is a color that expresses abundance and wealth, so why not?
You can also get a balanced look with a blazer or accessories cream or beige.
7. Cherry Tomato PANTONE 17-1563
Delpozo. New York Fashion Week 2018 Spring-Summer Season.
Beyond to be a fruit, without a doubt, this is the strongest and most intense color of Pantone’s chromatic palette. An red-orange that aims to capture the attention of anyone, combines perfectly with cold colors, cream tones and the Ultra Violet that I mentioned earlier.
Gold jewelry goes perfectly, pearls, gladiator or textured bracelets, extravagant and old jewelry, minimalist accessories, large earrings and thick necklaces, diamonds, crystals Everything!
Red is a classic color in the entertainment industry, and somehow matches magically with any accessory you want. From the most punk, to the casual chic and the super elegant. Even a red lipstick with pieces of clothing of the same color looks great. Come on, who doesn’t love red color?
8. Almost Mauve PANTONE 12-2103
Victoria Beckham. New York Fashion Week 2018 Spring-Summer Season.
Undoubtedly, one of my favorite colors of this chromatic palette. This white with a hint of pink expresses subtlety, calmness and delicacy. Perfect for use with metallic and same shade accessories. It’ss a color that doesn’t tire the eyes, so you can use a completely monochromatic look and I assure you that it’ll not look bad or boring.
If monochromatic looks are not your thing, then accessories with darker colors like green or blue can give a dynamic touch to your image in a second.
Something I like to use with this type of tones is minimalistic jewelry or pearls, because the same color tells you to. The more subtle, the better. But, you can use extravagant jewelry to give a great contrast. In both ways it looks very good.
Among other colors for the season, are:
All these tonalities are magnificent and positive, worthy to shine with them, whether in accessories or clothing. So, tell me! What is your favorite tonality?
