When the passion for something is at a family level, then it is much more pleasant to work for it because the trip and the experiences are more pleasant.
Today I will talk about two brands contestants of the Jewelery Talent that are under the same family directions: LUCKYMESH and MIER Y CONCHA Joyeras.
María Eugenia Tovar, designer and manufacturer of jewelry, tells us that over 35 years have experience in the fine jewelry sector.
The first brand, LUCKYMESH, was born on a summer afternoon in 2010 with a colorful soul, simple spirit and relaxed form. María Eugenia defines it as timeless and has no age. It is a combination of textures, nuances and fabrics that intertwine thoughts and emotions full of color, inspired by the dynamic and current woman of relaxed elegance but with a lot of style, and that identifies with the freshness and freedom that we all carry inside.
The second brand, MIER Y CONCHA Joyeras, was born in the spring of 2015 and its pieces are classic with its own elegant style. María Eugenia says that they like to call them clashik.
When María Eugenia told me that they were two completely different brands, it was time to ask her several questions that seemed key to understanding the difference and why of two brands under the same line of directors.
What do you inspire to create jewelry for each of your brands?
My source of inspiration with LUCKYMESH have always been the colors of my hometown. I was born in Villahermosa, in the city of Tabasco, Mexico. The people of my land are very friendly, relaxed and fun. Tabasco is rich in flora, fauna and water, lots of water.
I feel a very particular fascination with trees (such as macuilis or flamboyanes) that have intense colors, and I think that somehow I have related it to the materials I use for the creation of my pieces, which I like to be like we are Tabasco, friendly, relaxed, fun and full of color. Maybe that’s why when I think of jewelry I always think of colors.
In MIER Y CONCHA Joyeras I wanted to pay tribute to the country where I studied, Italy, from Vicenza with its cobblestone streets of small squares forming arches on the floor to the architecture of Andrea Palladio, and from Benvenuto Cellini to Valenza Po, cradle of the high goldsmith . Italy, without a doubt, has been one of my main engines to create jewelry less relaxed and more clashik.
Why have you decided to carry two brands instead of merging them?
Well honestly I had never thought about it. Maybe now start to consider it.
What is the determining point of difference between them?
Perhaps the most important point is that LUCKYMESH is jewelry with a more versatile workforce and MIER Y CONCHA Joyeras is armed with a more specialized workforce.
What are your target audiences?
For LUCKYMESH your audience is the X generation and the Y millennials, and for MIER Y CONCHA Joyeras, perhaps you would consider the Baby boomers (generation belonging to the contemporary period and after the Second World War), the X generation and the Y millennials.
What type of materials do you use in each brand and which ones stand out the most?
In LUCKYMESH I use mainly threads, crystals, pearls, natural stones, pieces in Italian league metal, in sterling silver .925 and 14K or 18K gold on request. In MIER Y CONCHA Joyeras I use crystals, zirconias, natural stones in sterling silver and also in gold on request.
Do you have a favorite?
Yes. My favorite is LUCKYMESH because of its versatility and because I’m not afraid of making a mistake.
What pieces do you create?
80% of the model or master pieces are designed by me personally, I combine colors, the yew, the armo, the soldo, the pulo, etc. to be able to calculate real production times and be able to teach. My sister is in charge of the production of the pieces.
Undoubtedly, both brands are spiritually connected but the aesthetics and motives are totally different. And this shows that creation has no limits. In addition, they have 2 exclusive products that do not manage as a brand but as inputs that they make to the companies that request it, such as the little silken thread, also known as tassels, and the satin flowers.
